J 38778 Door Trim Pad Clip Remover

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the rear compartment.
  2. Remove the rear compartment convenience net, if equipped.
  3. Remove the rear compartment convenience net retainers, if equipped.

  4. Object Number: 769930  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the cellular antenna cable from the communication interface module by pulling outward on the square plastic housing.
  6. Disconnect the 2 lower connectors from the module.
  7. Disconnect the GPS antenna cable from the module by pulling outward on the circular metal sleeve.

  9. Remove the nuts from the module bracket.
  10. Remove the module and the bracket from the rear compartment.

  11. Object Number: 318896  Size: SH
  12. Remove the rear compartment mat from the rear compartment.

  13. Object Number: 318893  Size: SH
  14. Remove the spare tire cover from the rear compartment.
  15. Remove the spare tire.
  16. Use J 38778 in order to remove the push-in retainers located near the lock striker.
  17. Slide the trim panels out from under the weatherstrip.
  18. Slide each side of the rear compartment trim panels toward the center of the car.
  19. Remove the rear compartment trim panels from the rear compartment.

Installation Procedure

    Important: The right side of the rear compartment trim panel fits over the left side.

  1. Install the rear compartment trim panels to the rear compartment.
  2. Install the push-in retainers located by the lock striker.
  3. Replace the rear compartment convenience net retainers, if equipped.
  4. Install the rear compartment convenience net, if equipped.

  6. Install the spare tire.
  7. Install the spare tire cover to the rear compartment.

  8. Install the rear compartment mat to the rear compartment.
  9. Position the communication interface module and the bracket in the rear compartment.

  10. Object Number: 769963  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  11. Install the interface module bracket nuts.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bracket nuts to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  13. Connect the GPS antenna cable by pushing in on the metal sleeve.
  14. Connect the 2 lower connectors to the module.
  15. Connect the cellular antenna by pressing in on the square plastic housing.
  16. Close the rear compartment.
