Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement 3.1L
Tools Required
J 39400-A Halogen Leak
Detector
Removal Procedure
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls - 3.1L.
- Remove the A/C compressor hose nut (1).
- Disconnect the A/C compressor hose from the condenser.
- Remove the A/C compressor hose nut (2).
- Remove the A/C compressor hose from the accumulator.
- Remove the lower air deflector. Refer to
Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the A/C compressor hose assembly
bolt from the A/C compressor.
Important: Remove and discard all the used O-ring and
sealing washers.
- Remove the A/C compressor hose from the A/C compressor.
Installation Procedure
- Install the new sealing washers onto the A/C compressor hose assembly.
Refer to
Sealing Washer Replacement
.
- Install the A/C compressor hose to the A/C
compressor.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the A/C compressor hose bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).
- Install the lower air deflector. Refer to
Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Install the new O-ring seal to the A/C compressor hose assembly. Refer
to
O-Ring Replacement
.
- Install the A/C compressor hose to the accumulator.
- Install the A/C compressor hose nut (2)
to the accumulator.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Install the A/C compressor hose to the condenser.
- Install the A/C compressor hose nut (1) to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).
- Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls - 3.1L.
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to
Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A
.
