Some of the early built 1985 Electras did not have attaching holes in the front bumper for the front license plate mounting bracket. To install this bracket on a front bumper without the attaching holes, proceed as follows:
1. Center the bracket in the opening provided for it in the front bumper.
2. Using the bracket as a template, center punch the location of the bracket's two (2) mounting holes on the bottom surface of the bumper.
3. Drill two (7/32) inch or (5.30) mm holes in the bumper and install the bracket using the furnished screws.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
