1. WARRANTY AND OWNER ASSISTANCE ON 1985 BUICK NEW CARS (3) -------------------------------------------------------- There are three booklets (all cars except California - Part #25518861, California Only Gasoline Engines - Part #25518862 and California Diesel Fueled Engines - Part #25518863 which contain warranty information relative to the new car emission systems, tires and corrosion.
Owner assistance satisfaction procedures, the GM mediation/arbitration program, special policy adjustment program, and the GM Continuous Protection Plan are all outlined in this booklet. A separate tire warranty folder is included to outline warranty as provided by individual tire manufacturers.
The owner's name, address, Vehicle Identification Number, date of delivery and mileage at the time of delivery, are all to be typed on the inside front cover of the Warranty and Owner Assistance Information booklet in the space provided. There is a space provided on the back of the folder for the dealer name, address and dealer code.
It is very important that the Owner and Vehicle Informatiion on the booklet be correct. This information will be the only means of owner identification for repairs covered under warranty. In order for dealer warranty claims to be properly processed, the Vehicle Identification Number must be correct. Owners should be instructed to carry their Warranty and Owner Assistance Information Booklets in their vehicles at all times.
2. SERVICE INFORMATION ------------------- Electrical ---------- In order to prevent battery drains during cold weather shipment, fuse #14 has been removed from the fuse block. That fuse has been taped to a card which is attached to the rear view mirror. Instructions on this card instruct dealers to install the fuse prior to delivery.
Should an encounter of a rack and pinion steering gear problem occur that is not readily correctable, an exchange unit may be obtained by the dealer by calling Saginaw Steering Gear, Mr. Robert McCrady, (205) 552-5318 (Alabama) . Return shipping information will be supplied in a reusable carton. Returned gears are to be purged of oil and must include a completely filled out parts tag and a copy of the R.O.
A 440-T4 Transmission Exchange Program has been established. Dealers may secure an exchange unit through the local Zone office by the following procedure:
A. When a transmission complaint is identified, the dealer should check and adjust the TV cable; also, check and add fluid, if required. Also, he should make minimum and maximum line pressure checks, then attach the results to the transmission. Dealer must not disassemble the transmission.
B. If the transmission leaks , the dealer should clean the potential leak areas, cover the areas with powder, and mark the leak areas on the transmission.
C. The dealer should contact the Zone office with VIN and transmission serial numbers.
D. The replacement transmission will be air freighted to the dealer.
E. A Hydra-Matic product representative will audit the vehicle and transmission after the new transmission is installed.
F. The removed transmission should be air freighted with R.O. copy listing line pressures to: Hydra-Matic Division - Warren Plant 23500 Mound Road Warren, MI 48091 Attn: W.J. Harris Supt. - Inspection
3. 1985 ELECTRA/PARK AVENUE SERVICE MANUALS ---------------------------------------- The 1985 Electra/Park Avenue Chassis Service Manual is a loose leaf publication in a "soft" cover containing information on description, diagnosis and repair on components and systems specific to the 1985 Electra/Park Avenue. This manual supplements the 1984 Buick Chassis Service Manual and will be replaced by the 1985 Buick Chassis Service Manual when distributed in August, 1984.
The 1985 C Car Fisher Body Service Manual has been shipped to all Buick dealers.
4. 1985 Electra and Park Avenue Owner's Manuals -------------------------------------------- The Electra and Park Avenue each have a specific owner manual for 1985 as follows:

A suede finish wallet, part number 25518866, replaces the plastic envelope for containing the owner manual, warranty and owner assistance booklet and maintenance schedule booklets.
5. 1985 VEHICLE CERTIFICATION AND TIRE PRESSURE LABEL -------------------------------------------------- In accordance with Federal Motor Vehicle Regulations, A Vehicle Certification and Tire Pressure Label is being affixed to all 1985 model Buicks.
The label will have a certification statement, Vehicle Identification Number, month and year that the vehicle was built. The label will be attached horizontally to the left front door inner panel lock facing on all models. The lower portion of the label will have the tire size and tire pressure information.
Due to the certification label's locations, it may be subject to damage during car shipment, new vehicle pre-delivery service, through door repair or replacement.
To acquire a replacement certification label, proceed as follows:
A. Obtain an impression of the Vehicle Identification Number on the engine block by rubbing a pencil lightly over a piece of paper held in place against the block.
B. Obtain build date, if at all possible, from damged certification label.
C. Check Vehicle Identification number on engine block and identification number on instrument panel to see that they match.
D. Obtain the vehicle order number from invoice.
E. Send the readable impression and build date from Steps A and B above and the vehicle order number taken from the invoice, along with a letter of explanation to: Buick Motor Divisim Attn: J.D. Mack Manager, Technical Service Flint, MI 48550
6. 1985 NEW VEHICLE INSPECTION PROCEDURE F0RM ------------------------------------------ The New Vehicle Inspection and Delivery Procedure which was introduced in 1983, includes a new NVI for 1984. The new process is now fully implemented. Therefore, use New Vehicle Inspection Procedure Sheet 101072. This form is shipped with each Buick delivered to you. Additional forms may be obtained through your Zone Office.
7. 1985 ELECTRA/PARK AVENUE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE ---------------------------------------------- Two (2) maintenance schedule booklets specific for 1985 Electra/Park Avenue are as follows:

8. 1985 LABOR TIME GUIDE - MICROPUBLICATIONS UPDATE ------------------------------------------------- On March 1, 1984, one (1) set of micropublications was mailed to all dealers, each set consists of two revised 1984 Labor Time Guide microfiche. This revised microfiche does have the 1985 "C" car time in it. Additional quantities, if previously ordered, will be supplied, based upon records on file at time of mailing. All requests for additional microfiche sets are to be processed directly thru GM Photographic. Additional order forms are available from your Zone Office. Labor Time Guide - All claims processed on the date of receipt or after will be processed on the basis of operations and labor time allowances provided.
The 1984 printed labor time guide contains 1985 Electra and Park Avenue information. This loose leaf publication can be ordered on the "Service Publications for Buick Dealers" order form.
9. 1985 Buick Bulletin Binders --------------------------- Orders for binders and index tabs should be sent directly to Buick Motor Division in care of Office Service Department, as shown on the order form included with this Bulletin.
It will not be necessary to include a check for your order, as all orders will be charged against your Open Parts Account.
