C0187 Service Stability Message

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

C0187 and service stability message. The vehicle may also exhibit unwanted stabilitrak.

If the vehicle has the wrong combination lateral accelerometer / yaw sensor (lat/yaw sensor) this can occur. Inspect the lat/yaw sensor to verify it is the correct one for the vehicle application. If the car is equipped with a column shifter the sensor wire harness connector should be pointing to the rear of the vehicle. If the vehicle is equipped with a floor shifter the wire connector should face the front of the vehicle.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
