Tools Required

J 21854-01 Pivot Pin Remover

1. Remove the steering column pass key lock cylinder set. Refer to Steering Column Lock Cylinder Set - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .



2. Remove the column housing cover end cap (2) from the lock housing cover assembly.
3. Remove the cruise control connector (3) from the column housing cover end base plate (1).



4. Remove the 3 pan head 6-lobed socket tapping screws. (1) at 12 o' clock, (2) at 3 o' clock and (3) at 8 o' clock.



5. Remove the lock housing cover assembly (1).
6. Remove the column housing cover end base plate (2) and the dimmer switch rod actuator (3).



7. Remove the switch activator pivot pin (2) from the pivot and pulse switch assembly (1) and the lock housing cover assembly.
8. If you need to remove the pivot and pulse switch assembly from the steering column housing, refer to Windshield Wiper and Washer Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .
9. Remove the tilt spring assembly only. Refer to Tilt Spring - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .



10. Remove the 2 pivot pins (1) using tool J 21854-01 .



11. Use the tilt lever (2) and tilt the steering column housing assembly (1) down and away from column.
12. Remove the tilt lever (2).
