The following procedure must be followed when re-installing the 1991 Park Avenue or Ultra door trim pads to assure proper alignment with both the door and instrument panel.
1. Assure the water defector is intact and positioned correctly prior to beginning installation of the trim pad.
2. Remove and replace all the door trim plastic fasteners. New plastic fasteners must be used to re-install the door trim pad.
3. Attach the door trim to the door at lower area and sides. (The trim pad must be attached at the lower area prior to attaching at the belt to assure proper alignment with the instrument panel pad.)
4. Attach the door trim to door at the belt line (top of trim pad to door panel at window opening).
5. Install the arm rest "L" shaped support bracket and install the trim pad to "L" bracket attaching screw while holding the door trim pad tightly to the door panel.
6. Install the two remaining arm rest screws (located in the switch mounting area of the trim pad).
Use the appropriate Labor Operation and Time Allowance from the 1991 Buick Labor Time Guide.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
