INOPERATIVE POWER ACCESSORIES INSTALL NEW CIRCUIT BREAKER

SUBJECT: INOPERATIVE POWER ACCESSORIES

MODELS AFFECTED: 1991 PARK AVENUE/PARK AVENUE ULTRA MODELS

CONDITION:

---------- Some 1991 Park Avenue/Ultras built prior to VIN M1642468 may exhibit a condition where the power windows, sunroof, memory seat/mirrors, power door locks, power seats, remote keyless entry, automatic door locks and/or rear defogger does not operate.

CAUSE:

------ The cause of this condition is the number 3 and or 4 circuit breaker in the I/P fuse block not making proper contact in the fuse block. A change was made at the start of production in the terminal used for the fuseblock on the 1991 Park Avenue/Ultra. A corresponding change to the circuit breaker to adapt to these new terminals did not occur. This old style circuit breaker will not reach far enough into the fuse block to make good contact.

CORRECTION:

------------ To correct the above condition, a new circuit breaker should be used in positions 3 and 4 of the instrument panel fuse block. The old circuit breaker can be identified by a stamped "240" on the case and an unfinished aluminum color. The new circuit breaker can be identified by a green color and the part number 12040832 stamped on the case.
