This bulletin is being revised to add Warranty Information and supersedes Buick Bulletin No. 91-10-28.
------------ Some 1991 Park Avenue/Ultra models with option "AUO" (Remote Keyless Entry), may exhibit a problem with the range at which the system will operate. The customer complaint may be that they have to get very close to the vehicle to unlock/lock the door or trunk.
The 1991 Park Avenue/Ultra models with option "KP2" (Retained Accessory Power), and option "C97" (Illuminated Entry), may not have the feature that keeps power to the radio and wipers on after the key is off and until the door is opened.
------- The Park Avenue/Ultra models with loss of retained accessory power for the radio and wipers was due to the function being deleted in production from the remote accessory control module (RAC). This was necessary to eliminate a "Pop" noise in the radio when the ignition was shut off.
----------- To correct the short range problem with the Remote Keyless Entry system, replace the remote accessory control module (RAC) with part # 25602655. After replacing the RAC module, the transmitters must be reprogrammed using the following procedure:
1. Turn the ignition switch to off. 2. Jumper the ALDL connector terminal A to G. At this point the door locks will lock then unlock. 3. Press the "unlock" button on the transmitter. At this point the door locks will again lock then unlock. 4. Disconnect the jumper from the ALDL connector.
The new remote accessory control module (RAC) should provide an average range of about 45 feet. Range may vary from 15 feet to 125 feet depending on the direction and transmitter angle.
To restore the Retained Accessory Power feature on Park Avenue/Ultra models equipped with "AUO" Remote Keyless Entry Option, replace the remote accessory control module (RAC) with part number 25602655.
Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
