Camber is the inward or outward tilting of the front or rear wheels from the vertical (1). When the wheels tilt outward at the top, the camber is positive. When the wheels tilt inward, the camber is negative. Measure the amount of tilt in degrees from the vertical. This measurement is called the camber angle.
An excessive positive camber will cause outside shoulder wear on the tires. An excessive negative camber will cause inside shoulder wear on the tires. Excessive camber will also cause the vehicle to pull or lead to the side that has the most positive camber.
