Parking Brake Cable Replacement Front Cable

The park brake cable is serviced with the park brake pedal.

Parking Brake Cable Replacement Intermediate Cable

1. Raise the vehicle and support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Loosen the park brake cable adjuster.
3. Disconnect the intermediate parking brake cable (2) from the cable clip (1).
4. Disconnect intermediate cable housing from the cable retaining bracket.



5. Disconnect the intermediate cable (3) from the rear equalizer (1).
6. Disconnect the intermediate cable housing from the rear cable housing retaining bracket.
7. Remove the intermediate cable.

1. Route and install the intermediate parking cable into brake cable retaining brackets.
2. Connect the left (2) and right (5) rear parking brake cables to the intermediate cable (3), using equalizer (1).



3. Insert the intermediate cable (2) into the cable retaining bracket (1) and lock the cable into place.
4. Adjust the parking brake cable.

Parking Brake Cable Replacement Rear Cable

1. Raise the vehicle and suitably support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
2. Back off adjuster nut to release cable tension.
3. Disconnect right and left rear parking brake cables from the rear equalizer.
4. Remove conduit fitting from bracket by depressing conduit fitting retaining tangs.
5. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Wheel Removal in Tires and Wheels.



6. Remove right and left cable retainer bolts.



7. Disconnect right and left parking brake cable from the parking brake levers. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .
8. Remove right and left cable from caliper support brackets by depressing conduit fitting retaining tangs.
9. Remove the parking brake rear cables.

1. Position right and left rear parking brake cable to the vehicle.
2. Install conduit fitting to bracket by snapping into place.
3. Connect cables to the equalizer.



4. Install right and left cable retainer bolts.



5. Install right and left cables to the caliper support brackets by snapping into place.
6. Connect the parking brake cables to the parking brake levers. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .
7. Install the tire and wheel. Refer to Wheel Installation in Tires and Wheels.
8. Adjust parking brake cable.
