Cell 50: Class 2 Serial Data Line

Circuit Description

The class 2 serial data line from the EBTCM controls the TRACTION OFF indicator. When the EBTCM sees the traction control line go low through the momentary Traction Control switch, the EBTCM disables traction control and sends a message to the IPC to turn the TRACTION OFF indicator on. Each time the ignition switch is cycles OFF to RUN, the Traction Control enables until the Traction Control switch is depressed.

Diagnostic Aids

    • Thoroughly inspect the wiring and the connectors. Failure to carefully and fully inspect the wiring and the connectors may result in misdiagnosis. Misdiagnosis may cause part replacement without repairing the malfunction.
    • One of the following conditions may cause an intermittent malfunction:
       - A poor connection
       - Rubbed through wire insulation
       - A broken wire inside the insulation
    • If an intermittent malfunction exists, refer to Testing for Electrical Intermittents in Wiring Systems.
