1. Turn on the radio.
2. Use the J 39916-A in order to isolate the inoperative speaker if necessary.
3. Set the fade and the balance to the inoperative speaker.
4. Use the J 39200 in order to measure the A/C voltage from the speaker connector terminal A to B (speaker connected).

Is A/C voltage measured?

Replace the speaker.

Inspect the speaker circuits for an open or a short to ground.

Is there an open or a short to ground in the speaker circuits?

Repair the open or short to ground in the speaker circuit.

Is the vehicle equipped with U99?

Go to Step 8

Replace the amplifier.
