  1. Disconnect the remote function actuator (RFA) module connector.
  2. Leave the key out of the ignition.

Is the key in ignition warning chime on?

Inspect CKT 1845 (LT GRN) for a short to ground.

Is CKT 1845 shorted?

Repair CKT 1845 (LT GRN).

Did you complete the repair?

Replace the body control module (SBM).

  1. Leave the RFA module connector disconnected.
  2. Use a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) in order to measure the resistance from the RFA module connector terminal A9 to ground.

Is the resistance less than the specified value with the key in the ignition, and infinite with the key out of the ignition?

5 ohms

  1. Disconnect C206.
  2. Use the DMM in order to measure the resistance from the steering column wiring harness side of connector C206 terminal B8 to terminal B4.

Is the resistance less than the specified value with the key in the ignition, and infinite with the key out of the ignition?

5 ohms

Find and repair a short to ground in CKT 80 (LT GRN) within the steering column wiring harness. If the CKT is OK, replace the ignition key warning switch.

Repair a short to ground in CKT 80 (LT GRN) between the RFA module connector terminal A9 and C206 terminal B8.
