Did you perform the Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) System Check?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Open the driver or passenger door.
  3. Press the driver or passenger power door lock switch.
  4. Close both the driver and passenger doors (CTD System is now ARMED).

Does the CTD system ARM properly?

  1. Disarm the CTD system by inserting the door key into the driver door lock cylinder.
  2. Rotate the key to the unlock position.
  3. Insert the key into the passenger door lock cylinder.
  4. Rotate the key to the unlock position.

Does the CTD system DISARM properly from both doors?

Disarm the CTD system by pressing the UNLOCK button on the remote transmitter.

Using a scan tool, attempt to establish communications with the driver door module (DDM) and remote function actuator (RFA) systems.

Can the scan tool communicate with the DDM and RFA systems?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Close the driver and passenger doors.
  3. Press the LOCK button on the remote transmitter.

Does the CTD system ARM properly?

Repair the no communication malfunction to the system that could not communicate with the scan tool. Refer to Data Link Communications System Check in Wiring Systems.

Inspect the following circuits for an intermittent malfunction:

    • Driver door jamb switch
    • Passenger door jamb switches
    • Intermittent communications between the DDM or RFA systems
    • Power door lock switches
    • Door lock cylinder switches
    • Rear lid tamper switch

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the RFA. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.

  2. Connect or install any connectors or components that were disconnected or removed.
