Door Jamb Switches

The CTD system monitors the inputs of the following components in order to activate the alarm:

    • The front door jamb switches
    • The rear door jamb switches

The respective door modules detect a ground input when the following actions occur:

    • The CTD system arms.
    • The passenger door opens (the switch closes).

The door module sends a message via the simple bus interface (SBI) serial data line to the driver door module (DDM), except for when the left front door jamb switch closes. The DDM sends a door open message via the class 2 data line to the RFA module when the following actions occur:

    • The DDM detects a ground input.
    • The DDM receives an open door message.

When the RFA receives this message, the RFA enters the alarm mode.

Left and Right Front Door Lock Cylinder Switches

The door lock cylinders are equipped with switches which are used in order to disarm the CTD system. The respective door modules detect a ground input when the following actions occur:

    • The CTD system arms.
    • The lock cylinder turns in order to unlock the door (the switch closes).

The door module sends a message via the simple bus interface (SBI) serial data line to the driver door module (DDM), except for when the left front door lock cylinder switches close. The DDM sends a door unlocked message via the class 2 data line to the RFA module when the following actions occur:

    • The DDM detects a ground input.
    • The DDM receives a door unlocked message.

When the RFA receives this message, the RFA enters standby mode. Service the door lock cylinder switches separately from the lock cylinder.

Remote Function Actuator (RFA) Module

The RFA module is the master content theft deterrent (CTD) module. In order to determine the alarm mode, the RFA monitors the class 2 messages from the following components:

    • The other modules
    • The keyless entry transmitter

The RFA directly monitors the IGNI/ACCI signals from the ignition switch. In the ALARM mode, the RFA controls the following components:

    • The exterior lights
    • The horns

The RFA also controls the SECURITY indicator for both of the following systems:

    • The PASS-Key® III system when the ignition is active
    • The CTD system when the key is absent from the ignition switch

The RFA module supplies a ground on CKT 264 (DK GRN) in order to activate the SECURITY indicator. The RFA module has no diagnostic trouble code.
