The hood hinge is a 2 piece design which separates at the hood pivot points. The upper portion attaches to the hood with 2 bolts and to the lower portion of the hinge with 1 bolt. The lower portion of the hinge attaches to the fender with 2 bolts.

Removal Procedure

    Important: Mark the location of the upper and/or the lower hood hinge on the underside of the hood panel and on the fender. Marking the location aids in the adjustment of the upper and/or lower hood hinge after installation.

  1. Remove the hood panel. Refer to Hood Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 256017  Size: SH
  3. Remove the bolts (1) retaining the upper hood hinge (3) to the hood (2).
  4. Remove the upper hood hinge (3).

  5. Object Number: 256012  Size: SH
  6. Remove the hood hinge cover (1) from the lower hood hinge to fender.

  7. Object Number: 256014  Size: SH
  8. Remove the bolts (1) that retain the lower hood hinge to the fender.
  9. Remove the lower hood hinge (2) from the fender.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 256014  Size: SH
  1. Install the lower hood hinge (2) to the fender.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts (1) in order to retain the lower hinge.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (93 lb in).

  5. Install the hood hinge cover (1) to the lower hood hinge.

  6. Object Number: 256017  Size: SH
  7. Install the upper hood hinge (3) to the hood (2).
  8. Install the bolts (1) in order to retain the upper hinge.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (93 lb in).

  10. Install the hood panel to the vehicle with the aid of an assistant. Refer to Hood Replacement .
  11. Install the hinge pivot bolts.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (93 lb in).

  13. Close the hood.
  14. Inspect for a proper fit of the closed hood.

  15. Touch up any exposed or unpainted surface after replacing the hood.
