The floor plan insulation design takes into account the floor pan temperature. The temperature results from the usage of the exhaust system catalytic converters. Install the insulators in the original sequence and location when removing or disturbing any insulators.
Caution: All floor pan insulator material must meet Federal Vehicle Safety Standards for flammability. Failure to do so could result in personal injury and/or vehicle damage.
If you replace an insulator, use the material specified for that particular location on the floor pan.
Use the following types of materials:
| • | The floor pan insulator cerra blanket thermal consists of 10 mm (3/8in) thick aluminum silica (type 1). |
| This insulator is rolled stock. Order this insulator by linear foot. Cut the insulator to fit. |
| • | The floor pan insulator amberlite consists of 10 mm (3/8in) thick resonated fibers (type 2). |
| This insulator is rolled stock. Order this insulator by linear foot. Cut the insulator to fit. |
| • | The floor pan insulator sheet phenolic bonded fiberglass is 305 mm x 457 mm (12 in x 18 in) cut to size (type 3). |

When servicing or replacing interior insulators, observe the following procedures:
| • | Butt together the insulators in order to avoid gaping or overlapping. |
| • | Always use specified material of the same size and thickness. |
| Install the material in the original location. |
| • | Use the original part as a template when cutting and fitting replacement insulators. |
| • | Do not enlarge the holes or cutouts used for the attachment of interior components such as seats or seat belts. |
| • | Route the electrical wiring harness over the insulator in the original position. |
| Clip the wiring harness into place. |
| • | Do not apply spray-on adhesives or deadeners to the top of the floor pan area directly over the catalytic converter or the muffler. |
