Condition

Some customers may comment that the radio clock gains an excessive amount of time.

Cause

Early production radios were manufactured with the wrong calibration for the clock.

Correction

Calibrate the clock with the Tech 2. If the condition persists after recalibration, send the radio to an authorized Service Center.

Important: If the vehicle is equipped with the OnStar, you must first disconnect the VIU before performing the following procedure. Failure to disconnect the VIU will result in the wrong calibration of the radio.

Verify that the Tech 2 is updated with disk # 15 from 1998 or later. Choose the following options using the Tech 2 tool:

  1. Diagnostics
  2. MY
  3. Passenger Car
  4. Body
  5. Body Style (C, H, G, W)
  6. Buick
  7. Entertainment & Comfort Bus
  8. Special Functions
  9. Radio Time of Day Fix

At this point, the Tech 2 will automatically calibrate the clock.
