Removal Procedure

    Caution:  When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  1. Apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent surfaces to help prevent paint damage.

  2. Object Number: 256012  Size: SH
  3. Remove the air inlet grille panel extension. (1).
  4. Remove the assist rods. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement .

  5. Object Number: 256011  Size: SH
  6. Remove the hinge pivot bolts (3).
  7. Remove the hood (1) with an assistant.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 256011  Size: SH
  1. Position the hood (1) into position with an assistant.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the hinge pivot bolts (3) in order to retain the hood (1) with an assistant.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 11 N·m (97 lb in).

  5. Install the assist rods. Refer to Hood Open Assist Rod Replacement .

  6. Object Number: 256003  Size: SH
  7. Align the hood (1) as needed. Refer to Hood Adjustment .
  8. Remove the tape.
