Problem

Action

The control valve is stuck or inoperative.

  1. Remove the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  2. Inspect the control valve. Refer to Power Steering Pump Disassembled View .
  3. Replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The pump ring is worn.

  1. Inspect the power steering pump ring.Refer to Power Steering Pump Disassembled View
  2. Replace the power steering pump.Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The pressure plate is scored.

  1. Inspect the pressure plate. Refer to Power Steering Pump Disassembled View .
  2. Replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The thrust plate is scored.

  1. Inspect the thrust plate. Refer to Power Steering Pump Disassembled View .
  2. Replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The rotor is scored.

  1. Inspect the rotor. Refer to Power Steering Pump Disassembled View .
  2. Replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The pressure plate is broken.

  1. Remove the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  2. Inspect the pressure plate. Refer to Power Steering Pump Disassembled View .
  3. Replace the power steering pump.Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The thrust plate is broken.

  1. Remove the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  2. Inspect the thrust plate. Refer to Power Steering Pump Disassembled View .
  3. Replace the power steering pump.Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The vanes are sticking in the rotor slots.

  1. Remove the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
  2. Inspect the vanes. Refer to Power Steering Pump Disassembled View .
  3. Replace the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement .
