Problem

Action

The front wheels are out of alignment.

  1. Inspect the front wheel alignment.
  2. Perform a front wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.

The rear wheels are out of alignment.

  1. Inspect the rear wheel alignment.
  2. Perform a rear wheel alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.

The bearing preload is improperly adjusted.

Tighten the bearing preload to specification.

Refer to Steering Gear Rack Bearing Preload Adjustment - Off Vehicle .

The spring is broken or sagging.

  1. Inspect the broken or sagging springs. Refer to Strut, Strut Component, and Spring Replacement in Front Suspension.
  2. Repair the broken or sagging springs. Refer to Strut, Strut Component, and Spring Replacement In Front Suspension.

The stabilizer shaft is loose.

  1. Inspect the following components:
  2. • The mounting bolts
    • The mounting links
  3. Tighten the mounting bolts to specification. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement in Front Suspension.
  4. Tighten the mounting links to specification. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Replacement in Front Suspension.

The struts are worn.

  1. Inspect the struts for wear. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement in Front Suspension.
  2. Replace the struts as needed. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement in Front Suspension.

The tires are uneven or misaligned.

  1. Service the the tires as needed. Refer to Tire Diagnosis - Irregular or Premature Wear in Tires and Wheels.
  2. Replace the tires as needed. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Inspect the alignment. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.
  4. Perform the alignment as needed. Refer to Wheel Alignment Measurement in Wheel Alignment.
