Problem

Action

A burr is on the lock bolt.

  1. Inspect the lock bolt.
  2. Replace the lock bolt as needed. Refer to Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Assemble - Off Vehicle

The lock bolt is restricted.

  1. Inspect the lock bolt.
  2. Service the lock bolt as needed. Refer to Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Assemble - Off Vehicle

The following components are damaged:

  1. The lock cylinder
  2. The park lock cable
  1. Inspect the components.
  2. Replace the components as needed. Refer to Steering Column Lock Cylinder Set - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Column Lock Cylinder Set - Assemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Assemble - Off Vehicle .

The ignition switch is stuck.

  1. Inspect the switch.
  2. Replace the components as needed. Refer to Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Ignition and Key Alarm Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle .

The shift linkage is maladjusted.

  1. Inspect the linkage.
  2. Service the components as needed. Refer to Service Indicator Always On or Steering Shaft, Lower Bearing, and Jacket - Assemble - Off Vehicle

The lock bolt spring is broken or worn.

  1. Inspect the spring.
  2. Replace the components as necessary. Refer to Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Column Tilt Head Housing - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
