Makes 🢒 Buick 🢒 1999 🢒 Regal 🢒 Steering 🢒 Variable Effort Steering 🢒 Clearing DTCs

Erase Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in the Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module (EBTCM) in one of the following two ways:

Diagnostic Computer Scan Tool Method
  1. Select the DTCs.
  2. The DTCs will view completely.
  3. The message CLEAR DTCs will prompt.
  4. Answer YES.
  5. The message HISTORY DATA WILL BE LOST will prompt.
  6. Answer YES.
  7. The DTCs will clear.

Ignition Cycle Default
  1. Turn the ignition to RUN in order to start the drive cycle.

    2. The existing DTCs will clear from the EBTCM memory if no diagnostic trouble codes occur for 100 drive cycles.

  2. Verify proper operation and verify the absence of the DTC when the clearing procedure is complete.

All DTCs must be displayed before the EBTCM will permit DTC clearing. The following procedures will not clear DTCs:

    • Unplugging the EBTCM
    • Disconnecting the battery cables
    • Turning the ignition OFF (except in the Ignition Cycle Default method)
