Is the vehicle a VIN 1 or VIN K?

Inspect the R/CMPT fuse for an open.

Is the fuse open?

Disconnect the transaxle range switch connector C1.

Using a test light, backprobe between the transaxle range switch harness connector C1 from terminal B and ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Connect a 15 A fused jumper to the transaxle range switch harness connector C1, between terminal B and terminal F.

Are the backup lamps lit?

--

Go to Step 6

Check a poor connection or an open in circuit 24 between the transaxle range switch harness connector C1 terminal F and S905.

Is there a poor connection or an open in circuit 24?

--

Go to Step 9

Adjust or replace the transaxle range switch. Refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Adjustment .

Repair a poor connection or an open in circuit 840.

Has the repair been made?

Repair a short to ground in circuit 840 or circuit 24.

Repair a poor connection or an open in circuit 24 between the transaxle range switch harness connector C1 terminal F and S905.

Repair a poor connection or an open in circuit 350 between S915 and G402.

Check for BCM DTCs. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Body Control System .

Using a test light, backprobe the backup lamp relay connector terminal C1 to ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Repair a poor connection or an open in circuit 840 between the underhood accessory wiring junction block connector C2 terminal B1 and the backup lamp relay connector C1.

Has the repair been made?

--

Go to Backup Lamp System Check

  1. Remove the backup lamp relay.
  2. connect a wire jumper between terminal C1 and A2 of the backup lamp relay.

Do the backup lamps turn on?

Replace the backup lamp relay.

Check for a poor connection or open in circuit 24 between the backup relay connector terminal A2 and S905.
