Inspect the operation of the CD player, using a known good disc.

Is the CD player mute or skipping?

  1. Inspect the compact disc player.
  2. If an error message occurred (the letter E followed by 2 numbers) while trying to play a CD in the compact disc player, inspect the CD player for the following conditions:
  3. • The disc is inserted upside down.
    • The disc is dirty.
    • The disc is badly scratched.
    • Use a known good disc.
    • The disc is wet.
    • The disc has moisture build-up. Allow an hour for the condensation to evaporate.
    • The instrument panel temperature is extremely high.
    • Extremely high internal instrument panel temperatures may cause the disc to be ejected.

Is the CD player operating correctly?

  1. Inspect the disc for proper insertion.
  2. Inspect the disc for scratches.
  3. Inspect the disc for dirt or fingerprints. Clean the disc as needed.
  4. Observe the road for roughness. The condition may be normal.
  5. Duplicate the condition with a known good disc. Some discs may contain marks not readily visible.

Is the CD player operating correctly?
