- Inspect the compact disc player.
- If an error message occurred (the letter E followed by
2 numbers) while trying to play a CD in the compact disc player, inspect
the CD player for the following conditions:
• | The disc is inserted upside down. |
• | The disc is badly scratched. |
• | The disc has moisture build-up. Allow an hour for the condensation
to evaporate. |
• | The instrument panel temperature is extremely high. |
• | Extremely high internal instrument panel temperatures may cause the
disc to be ejected. |

- Inspect the disc for proper insertion.
- Inspect the disc for scratches.
- Inspect the disc for dirt or fingerprints. Clean the disc as needed.
- Observe the road for roughness. The condition may be normal.
- Duplicate the condition with a known good disc. Some discs may
contain marks not readily visible.
