Was the BCM diagnostic system check performed?

Set the last door locking control to mode 3. Refer to Power Door Locks Circuit Description

Is the locking mode set to mode 3?

Check for Powertrain control module (PCM) DTCs. Refer to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check (VIN M) or Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check (VIN 1,K) in Engine Controls.

Is the action complete?

Go to Step 4

  1. Close all the vehicle doors.
  2. Ensure the IP dimmer switch is in the OFF position.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Open and then close all the vehicle doors. Perform this step one door at a time.

Did the courtesy lamps turn ON with the door open and then OFF with all the doors closed?

  1. Close all the vehicle doors.
  2. Start the engine.
  3. Press the brake pedal firmly and hold down.
  4. Shift the transaxle into DRIVE while observing the door locks.
  5. Press unlock on either door lock switch.
  6. Open the drivers door.
  7. Close the drivers door while observing the door locks.
  8. Press unlock on either door lock switch.
  9. Open a passengers door.
  10. Close the door while observing the door locks.
  11. Shift the transaxle into PARK.
  12. Stop the engine.
  13. Ensure the doors lock when closing the door while the transaxle is out of PARK.

Do the door locks operate as described above?

Inspect the last door lock feature for a problem due to a malfunction between the BCM and the door lock ajar switches. Refer to Interior Lamps System Check

  1. Inspect the lockout prevention feature.
  2. Ensure the lockout prevention feature is operating correctly. Refer to Power Door Locks Circuit Description

Go to Step 9

  1. Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
  2. After BCM replacement, perform the Setup New BCM Procedure. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Has the repair been made?

Go to Step 9

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reconnect the connectors.
  3. Reinstall the components.
