01-02 Pontiac and Buick A/B Van HUD Induced AM Radio Static - kw noise poor reception

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom described in the PI.

Vehicle may have a concern with AM static/buzz type noise with the HUD turned on. The noise, which will be very faint to begin with, will decrease as HUD intensity is decreased and stopped by shutting the HUD off. The noise is best heard during talk radio shows when the announcer pauses (between words) or during inadvertent ON AIR silence.

The HUD should be disconnected and the radio should be tested to see if the concern is gone. If the vehicle is diagnosed with this specific concern, the HUD should be sent to a certified AC Delco service center for repair.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
