Service VME - Elimination of Tire Service Extension Tube

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

The extension tube for the tire hoist that’s illustrated in the 2002 Buick Rendezvous owner’s manual on page 5-24 has been eliminated and was never supplied with any of the 2002 vehicles. It was initially felt that this extension would be necessary if the vehicle was equipped with the optional rear convenience or cargo tray as an aid to access the tire hoist shift. It’s identified as callout C in the visual aid in the owner’s manual. We never put it in and we have taken steps to assure that the owner’s manual text as well as the labels will reflect the elimination of that tool.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
