Subject: | Passenger Present Indicator Light Off |
Models: |
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
Some customers may report the Passenger present light is flashing or off when a passenger is sitting in the front seat. If the person is of adult-size, and the off indicator is lit or flashing, it could be because that person is not sitting properly in the seat.
If this happens, turn the vehicle off and ask the person to place the seatback in the fully upright position, then sit upright in the seat, centered on the seat cushion, with the person’s legs comfortably extended. Restart the vehicle and have the person remain in this position for about two minutes. This will allow the system to detect that person and then enable the passenger’s airbag. Once the system is enabled the passenger can readjust their position as long as they do not leave the seat for more than three seconds. For further information on the operation and limitation of the system, refer to the owners manual
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
