SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE DOOR GLASS RATTLES WHEN CLOSING THE DOOR.
REMOVE DOOR GLASS STABILIZER PADS AND REPLACE WITH NEW SERVICE PARTS AND BOLTS.
1. CHECK THAT THE OUTER BELT SEAL IS FULLY SEATED ON THE DOOR OUTER PANEL BELT FLANGE (A BELT SEAL THAT IS NOT FULLY SEATED ALLOWS EXCESSIVE GLASS MOVEMENT DURING DOOR SLAM). IF UPON DOOR SLAM THE GLASS RATTLE CONTINUES, REPLACE THE GLASS STABILIZERS AS DETAILED IN THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE.
2. REMOVE TRIM PANEL AND WATER DEFLECTOR. REFER TO "TRIM PANEL" AND "WATER DEFLECTOR" PROCEDURES IN THE APPROPRIATE SERVICE MANUAL.
3. REMOVE THE CURRENT STABILIZER PADS USING A 17/64" DRILL.
4. EXTEND THE STABILIZER ATTACHMENT SLOTS OUTBOARD APPROXIMATELY 1/8" TOWARD THE DOOR GLASS TO ALLOW FUTURE ADJUSTMENT OF THE STABILIZER PAD.
5. INSERT SERVICE STABILIZER PADS, P/N 10054691, AND ATTACH WITH BOLTS, P/N 25601642, OR SIMILAR.
6. AT THE GLASS FULL UP POSITION, ADJUST THE PADS OUTBOARD AGAINST THE GLASS, ENSURING THE SAME AMOUNT OF PRESSURE IS EXERTED BY BOTH PADS AGAINST THE DOOR GLASS. THIS DECREASES THE SPACE AVAILABLE FOR THE GLASS TO RATTLE.
7. USING A SPRAY BOTTLE, WET THE INSIDE OF THE GLASS UNIFORMLY AND THEN CYCLE THE GLASS 3 CYCLES (UP AND DOWN). IF TOO MUCH PRESSURE IS APPLIED AGAINST THE GLASS, AN ANNOYING SQUEAL MAY RESULT.
IT IS NOT ABNORMAL FOR THE INSIDE OF THE GLASS TO BECOME WET DUE TO HIGH HUMIDITY AND/OR CYCLING OF THE GLASS DURING RAINSTORMS (EX. TOLL ROADS); THEREFORE, CARE MUST BE TAKEN IN ADJUSTING THE STABILIZER PAD PRESSURE.
8. INSTALL A NEW OUTER BELT SEAL ENSURING THAT IT IS FULLY SEATED.
