Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement Oldsmobile

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
  2. in General Information.

  3. Remove the rear compartment sill plate. Refer to Rear Compartment Sill Trim Plate Replacement in Body Rear End.
  4. Remove the rear compartment rear trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement in Body Rear End.
  5. Remove the rear compartment right side trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side in Body Rear End
  6. Position the left side portion of the rear compartment floor trim inboard in order to access the fascia retaining nuts.
  7. Remove the taillamps. Refer to Tail Lamp Replacement in Lighting.

  8. Object Number: 105167  Size: SH
  9. From inside the rear compartment, remove the nuts and the bolt that retain the fascia to the rear quarter panels.
  10. Disconnect the lamp connector.
  11. Press the grommet from the rear end panel.

  13. Remove the push-in connectors from the fascia (1).
  14. Remove the rear wheelhouse extensions. Refer to Wheelhouse Extension Replacement - Rear in Exterior Trim.

  15. Object Number: 105165  Size: SH
  16. Remove the rear bumper fascia (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 105165  Size: SH
  1. Install the rear fascia (1).
  2. Install the rear wheelhouse extensions. Refer to Wheelhouse Extension Replacement - Rear in Exterior Trim.

  3. Install the push in connectors to the fascia (1).
  4. Install the grommet to the rear end panel.
  5. Connect the electrical connector.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the bolts and the nuts in order to retain the fascia at the rear quarter panel.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts and the nuts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  9. Install the taillamps. Refer to Tail Lamp Replacement in Lighting.
  10. Reposition the left portion of the rear compartment floor trim.
  11. Install the rear compartment right side trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side in Body Rear End
  12. Install the rear compartment rear trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement in Body Rear End.
  13. Install the rear compartment sill plate. Refer to Rear Compartment Sill Trim Plate Replacement in Body Rear End.
  14. Lower the vehicle.

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the rear compartment sill plate. Refer to Rear Compartment Sill Trim Plate Replacement in Body Rear End.
  3. Remove the rear compartment rear trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement in Body Rear End.
  4. Remove the rear compartment right side trim. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Right Side in Body Rear End
  5. Position the left side portion of the rear compartment floor trim inboard in order to access the fascia retaining nuts.

  7. From inside the rear compartment, remove the nuts and the bolt that retain the fascia to the rear quarter panels.
  8. Remove the wheel opening molding. Refer to Rear Wheel Opening Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim.

  9. Object Number: 105170  Size: SH
  10. Remove the push-in connectors from the fascia (1).
  11. Remove the rear wheelhouse extensions. Refer to Wheelhouse Extension Replacement - Rear in Exterior Trim.

  12. Object Number: 105165  Size: SH
  13. Remove the rear bumper fascia (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 105165  Size: SH
  1. Install the rear fascia (1).
  2. Install the rear wheelhouse extensions. Refer to Wheelhouse Extension Replacement - Rear in Exterior Trim.

  3. Install the push in connectors to the fascia.
  4. Install the wheel opening molding. Refer to Rear Wheel Opening Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   12. Lower the vehicle.
