  1. Disconnect the outside mirror switch connector.
  2. Connect a digital multimeter (DMM) between the outside mirror switch connector terminal A and ground.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10-15 V

Connect a DMM between the outside mirror switch connector terminal A and terminal J.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10-15 V

Repair the open or short to ground in CKT 40 (ORN).

Use a digital multimeter (DMM) in order to backprobe between one of the following components and ground:

    • Outside mirror switch terminal 8 (ORN) (Oldsmobile)
    • Outside mirror switch connector terminal A (ORN) (Buick)

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10-15 V

Use the DMM in order to backprobe between one of the following components:

    • Outside mirror switch terminals 8 (ORN) and 9 (BLK) (Oldsmobile).
    • Outside mirror switch connector terminals A (ORN) and J (BLK) (Buick)

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10-15 V

Disconnect the memory seat/mirror module connector C2. Connect a DMM between the memory seat/mirror module connector C2 terminal A and ground.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10-15 V

Repair the open or short to ground in CKT 1340 (ORN).

Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the memory seat/mirror module connector C1.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Connect a DMM between the memory seat/mirror module connector C1 terminal C12 and ground.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10-15 V

Repair the open or short to ground in CKT 39 (PNK).

Connect a DMM between the memory seat/mirror module connector C2 terminal B and B+.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

  1. Set the mirror select switch to the left outside rear view mirror.
  2. Use a DMM in order to backprobe the following CKTs:
  3. • Outside mirror switch terminal 7 (YEL) and ground (Oldsmobile).
    • Outside mirror switch terminal 5 (YEL) and ground (Buick).
  4. Move the outside mirror switch to the mirror up position.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10-15 V
