INCORRECT CERTIFCATION LABEL REVISION

Models: 1985 Buick & Chevrolet "X" Cars assembled at the Willow Run Plant

Incorrect vehicle certification labels were affixed to certain 1985 Buick Skylark, and Chevrolet Citation models. Printing of the final digit in the metric axle weight information fields of the label has mistakenly been suppressed.

Corrected labels are to be afixed to the affected vehicles.

VEHICLES AFFECTED ----------------- 1985 Skylark and Citation models assembled at Willow Run within the following breakpoints:

Buick Skylark SOP to FW405667 FW406052 FS406123 Chevrolet Citation SOP FW107055

All affected vehicles have been identified by the VIN listing provided to involved Dealers with this bulletin. Any Dealer not receiving a listing was not shipped any of the affected vehicles.

DEALER ACTION:

Dealers are to perform this campaign at no charge on all affected vehicles regardless of time, mileage or ownership. The recall campaign must also be performed on all involved vehicles in your new or used car inventory prior to their sale from this time forward.

CAMPAIGN PROCEDURE:

Refer to Section 4 of the Service Policies and Procedures Manual for the detailed procedure on handling Product Campaigns.Dealers are requested to complete the campaign on all transfers as soon as possible.

OWNER NOTIFICATION:

All owners of record at the time of campaign release are shown on the attached computer listing and have been notified by first class mail from General Motors. The listings provided are for campaign activity only and should not be used for any other purpose.

PARTS INFORMATION:

The certification labels will be supplied to dealers on a no-charge basis. PLEASE ENSURE THAT THESE LABELS ARE NOT LOST AS THEY WERE REPRINTED ON A "ONE TIME" BASIS.

PARTS AND LABOUR CLAIM INFORMATION:

Credit for the campaign work performed will be paid upon receipt of a properly completed campaign claim card or RAPID terminal transmission in accordance with the following:

Time allowance includes 0.1 hour for dealer administrative detail associated with this campaign.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Open driver's door and locate the old certification label.

2. Clean the surface of the old label with soapy water and wipe dry.

3. Remove backing from new label and carefully apply label over old label.

CAUTION:

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REMOVE OR LOOSEN THE NEW LABEL ONCE IT HAS BEEN APPLIED, AS THIS WILL DEFACE THE LABEL.

INSTALLATION OF CAMPAIGN IDENTIFICATION LABEL

Clean surface of radiator upper mounting panel and apply a Campaign Identification Label. Make sure the correct campaign number is inserted on the label. This will indicate that the campaign has been completed.

General Motors of Canada has determined a defect which may cause a state of non-compliance to the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Incorrect vehicle certefication labels were affixed to certain 1985 Chevrolet Citations and Buick Skylarks produced at the Willow Run Plant. Printing of the final digit in the metric axle weight information fields of the Label has mistakenly been suppressed.

The correct label for your vehicle, showing the complete axle weight figure, has been supplied to your dealer. Please contact the service department to arrange an appointment to have the correct label affixed to your vehicle.

This letter identifies your vehicle. Presentation of this letter to your Dealer will assist their Service personnel in completing the necessary correction to your vehicle in the shortest possible time.

Further assistance, if required, may be obtained from the General Motors Zone Office nearest you. Your vehicle Owner's Manual provides the location and phone number of each respective Zone Office.
