Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 182694  Size: SH
  1. Remove the retaining ring and the lip seal.
  2. Press the shaft from the bearing usingJ 22912-01 behind the inner slinger.
  3. Remove the retainer from the support screws.
  4. Press the bearing from the support using J 23694 .

Installation Procedure

  1. Press the bearing into the support using a press arbor plate across the bearing.
  2. Press the inner slinger on the shaft using J 22912-01 .
  3. Install the retainer over the shaft.
  4. Notice: Do not press the bearing beyond where the chamfer begins on the shaft. Damage to the bearing will result if it is pressed beyond the chamfer.

  5. Place the support with the bearing on the press arbor plate. Press the shaft into the bearing until the bearing inner race contacts the chamfer on the shaft.
  6. Press the outer slinger on the shaft using J 22912-01 .
  7. Apply RTV to the outer slinger and the shaft joint.
  8. Install the lip seal using J 34115 .
  9. Install the retaining ring.
  10. Install the retainer to support and install the screws.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  12. Install the intermediate shaft assembly into the vehicle.
