Causes

Steering Effort Hard in Both Directions

    â€¢ The hydraulic system is faulty. Perform the pressure test with the J 5176-D or the J 25323-B . Refer to Power Steering System Test .
    â€¢ The rack bearing preload is loose.
    â€¢ The steering gear has a bind.
    â€¢ The steering gear has a catch.
    â€¢ The line or the hose is pinched.
    â€¢ The intermediate shaft boot is mispositioned.
    â€¢ The intermediate shaft is worn.
    â€¢ The intermediate shaft is loose.
    â€¢ The belt is loose.
    â€¢ The pump pressure is insufficient.
    â€¢ A high internal leakage occurs in the gear or in the pump.
    â€¢ A high internal leakage occurs in the pump.
    â€¢ In cold temperatures, use a cold climate power steering fluid.
