Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 509869  Size: SH
  1. Remove the rack and pinion steering assembly from the vehicle.
  2. Disconnect the cylinder lines (1) from the rack and pinion housing (3).
  3. Remove the O-ring seals (2) from the cylinder lines (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 509869  Size: SH
  1. Lubricate the O-ring seals (2) with power steering fluid.
  2. Install the O-ring seals (2) to the cylinder lines (1).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Connect the cylinder lines (1) to the rack and pinion housing  (3).
  5. Tighten

        • Tighten the fittings at the valve end to 18 N·m (14 lb ft).
        • Tighten the fittings at the cylinder end to 28 N·m (20 lb ft).
  6. Install the rack and pinion assembly into the vehicle.
