Power Seat Adjuster Inoperative Adjuster Will Not Lock - Manual

Adjuster will not Lock

Problem

Action

The locking wire is too tight.

Loosen the locking wire tension. This will provide full engagement of the lock bar in the locking slots of the adjuster's lower channel.

The adjuster lock bar spring disconnects or is broken.

Connect the spring or install a new spring.

The adjuster lock bar sticks.

Lubricate the lock bar pivot.

The adjuster lock bar binds.

Eliminate the cause of the binding or replace the adjuster.

Adjuster will not Unlock

Problem

Action

The locking wire is too loose or disconnected.

Tighten the locking wire. This will allow the lock bar to disengage from the locking slots in the adjuster's lower channel when the lock control lever is activated.

The adjuster lock bar sticks.

Lubricate the lock bar pivot.

The adjuster lock bar binds.

Eliminate the cause of the binding or replace the adjuster.

Power Seat Adjuster Inoperative Both Adj Inop Horizontally/Vertically

Both Adjusters will not Operate Horizontally and/or Vertically

Problem

Action

Inoperative horizontal and/or vertical solenoid in the transmission.

Refer to Power Seats System Check Power Seats System Check.

Damaged, broken or inoperable:

    • solenoid plunger
    • shaft
    • dog
    • dog spring
    • gear
    • drive gear

Replace the damaged, broken or inoperable solenoid part with new components.

Problem

Action

Excessive clearance at the vertical actuator tension spring.

Grind down the top of the vertical actuator shoulder nut 0.40-1.19 mm (0.0156-0.0468 in) maximum.
