All coupe body styles are equipped with bucket seats. All bucket seats contain a manual lock system. The seatback must be manually released in order to provide easier access to the rear seat. The manual lock system is part of the recliner mechanism which is mounted on the outboard side of the front seat.
The manually operated front adjusters provide forward and rearward movement of the seat. When the seat control lever is actuated, the seat adjusters unlock, permitting travel of the seat. The seats lock into place when the seat control lever is released and the seat is in the desired position.
The adjuster release lever of the manual lock system is located on the outer adjuster. The inner adjuster acts as a slave unit. When entering the rear seating area, the forward movement of the seatback trips a cable which releases a lock bar on the adjuster. This allows the seat to move forward, thus allowing more room for passenger entry into the rear seat.
In order to return the seat to the original position, rearward pressure is applied to the top of the seatback. The seat will move rearward until the E-Z entry lock feature engages.
Normal seat adjuster travel is 210 mm (8.25 in) from the full rear to the full forward position. The E-Z entry adjuster travel is 190 mm (7.5 in). The power 6-way seat adjuster travel is 146 mm (5.75 in) when the seat is in the full rear position.
