Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Allow the suspension to freely
hang. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the front tire and the wheel assemblies. Refer to
Wheel Removal
in Tires and Wheels.
- Remove the nuts attaching
the stabilizer shafts (1) to the stabilizer links (4-8).
- Remove the clamps (2) attaching the stabilizer shaft to the suspenion
support assemblies.
- Remove the rear and center bolts from the suspension support assemblies,
and loosen the front bolts (8).
- Remove the stabilizer shaft with insulators (4).
Installation Procedure
- Install the stabilizer
shaft (1) with insulators (3) into the vehicle.
- Install the clamps (2) attaching the stabilizer shaft (1) to the
suspension support assemblies and hand tighten.
- Install the suspension support assemblies into position and install
the bolts (3-5) by hand tightening.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the nuts
attaching the stabilizer shaft to the stabilizer links (9).
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
- Tighten the suspension support bolts -- the rear first, the
center second, the front third -- to specifications.
Tighten
• | Tighten the center bolts first to 120 N·m (89 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the front bolts second to 120 N·m (89 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the rear bolts third to 120 N·m (89 lb ft). |
- Install and tighten the clamp nuts to specifications.
Tighten
• | Tighten the stabilizer shaft to clamp nuts to 30 N·m
(22 lb ft). |
• | Tighten the stabilizer shaft to control arm nuts to 30 N·m
(22 lb ft). |
- Install the front tire and the wheel assemblies. Refer to
Wheel Installation
in Tires and
Wheels.
- Check the front wheel alignment. Refer to
Wheel Alignment Specifications
