Due to a parts shortage, some 1985 Somerset Regal Limited models may have been built without the grille moulding. This moulding is now being installed in production on Limited models beginning with the serial number FM408084.
If it is desired to install this moulding on a Limited model assembled prior to the above breakpoint, the parts required and installation instructions are as follows:
Quantity Name Part Number --------- ---- ----------- 1 Moulding 25518288 8 Screw 11501165 8 U-Shaped Nut 9431530
1. Remove the radiator grille assembly.
2. Position the new moulding in the grille opening. While holding the edge of the moulding firmly against the front end panel, use it as a template and mark the centre location of the eight (8) mounting holes.
DO NOT CENTRE PUNCH THE MOUNTING HOLES AS DAMAGE WILL RESULT TO THE PLASTIC FRONT END PANEL.
3. Remove the moulding and drill eight (8) 7.0mm (9/32 inch) mounting holes in the front end panel.
4. Install the U-shaped nuts on the front end panel and install the moulding using the eight (8) attaching screws. Refer to the illustration.
5. Reinstall the grille assembly in its original location. Be sure the grille is centered in the opening.
For warranty purposes use the most applicable labour operation number and claim .4 hr.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
