QUARTER WINDOW REPAIR REVISED REMOVAL PROCEDURE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1986 SOMERSET

The 1986 Buick "N" body quarter window is no longer a tape and break, but can now be removed using the following procedures:

1. Remove screws from quarter window at body lock pillar.

2. Remove roof drip scalp molding

3. Remove quarter trim as specified in Section 6 of 1986 Body Service Manual.

CAUTION:

To minimize the change of personal, injury, safety glasses and gloves should be worn.

4. Using a hammer and a sharp-bladed scraper, cut through the four plastic studs (see illustration).

5. Using a curved blade the knife and/or utility knife cut urethane bond between quarter window and pinchweld flange staying as close to pinchweld flange as possible (see illustration).

6. If paint is damaged during quarter window removal, correct paint damage prior to quarter window installation.

7. Extended method must be used when installing quarter window. See Section 11 of 1986 Body Service Manual.
