Was the Charging System Check performed?

  1. Disconnect generator connector C2.
  2. Attach a fused jumper from the generator connector C2 to ground.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Is the charging indicator lamp illuminated?

Go to Step 3

Repair or replace the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.

Is the repair or replacement complete?

  1. Disconnect connector C102.
  2. Attach a fused jumper between terminal 3 of connector C102 and a known good ground.

Is the charging indicator lamp illuminated?

Go to Step 5

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in circuit PM1 between terminal 3 of connector C102 and the generator connector C2.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in circuit PM1 between terminal 3 of connector C102 and the generator connector C2.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step 7

  1. Locate an open or a high resistance in circuit PM1 between terminal 3 of connector C102 and terminal 18 of the gauge cluster connector.
  2. Repair the open or the high resistance in circuit PM1 between terminal 3 of connector C102 and terminal 18 of the gauge cluster connector.
  3. Replace the gauge cluster if circuit PM1 is OK. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Cluster, Gauges and Console.

Is the repair or replacement complete?

  1. Connect all of the connectors and components that were disconnected.
  2. Verify that the charging indicator operates properly.

Does the charging indicator lamp operate properly?
