- Inspect the driver seat. Turn the ignition switch to RUN. Verify the
proper operation of the seat belt chime and of the reminder lamp with the
belt buckled. Verify the proper operation of the seat belt chime and of the
reminder lamp with the belt unbuckled. Refer to
Seat Belt System Description
.
- Inspect the shoulder belt guide adjuster. Verify the following
conditions:
• | The shoulder belt guide adjuster slides freely and locks when
released. |
• | The seat belt webbing seats flat. |
• | The seat belt webbing doesn't bind. |
- Verify that the seat belt buckle faces inboard and the seat belt
buckle is accessible.
- Verify that the seat belt retractor units are securely attached.
- Verify that the seat belt anchor bolts are secure.
- Fully extend the seat belt webbing. Inspect for any unwanted twists
or tears in the webbing.
- Allow the seat belt webbing to retract. Verify that the webbing
returns freely and completely back in the retractor.
- Snap the seat belt latch into the buckle.
- Tug sharply on the seat belt latch. Buckle up. Verify that the
latch remains locked.
- Push the button on the buckle. Verify that the seat belt latch
easily releases from the buckle. Verify that the button returns to the original
position.
Repeat steps 2-10 for the front passenger seat.
- Check the rear center belts for any unwanted twists or tears in
the webbing.
- Snap the seat belt latch into the buckle.
- Tug sharply on the seat belt latch. Buckle-up. Verify that the
latch remains locked.
- Push the button on the buckle. Verify that the seat belt latch
easily releases from the buckle. Verify that the button returns to the original
position.
Repeat steps 2-10 for the outer rear seat belts
