Removal Procedure

    Caution: Always disable the SIR system when servicing the SIR components, or the SIR wiring. Failure to follow the disabling procedures could result in possible deployment, personal injury, or otherwise unneeded SIR system repairs.

  1. Disable SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .
  2. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
  3. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

    4. Object Number: 210357 Size: SH
  4. Remove the upper steering column cover screw caps.
  5. Remove the steering column cover screws.
  6. Remove the steering column cover.
  7. Remove the steering wheel tilt lever. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
  8. Remove the rubber protective cover from the ignition lock cylinder.

  9. Remove the lower steering column cover screws.
  10. Remove the lower steering column cover.

    11. Object Number: 210530 Size: SH
  11. Disconnect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil wiring harness connector.
  12. Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 210530 Size: SH
  1. Center the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil before installing it to the steering column shaft.
  2. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil.
  3. Connect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil wiring harness connector.

    4. Object Number: 210364 Size: SH
  4. Install the lower steering column cover.
  5. Install the lower steering column cover screws.
  6. Install the rubber protective cover to the ignition lock cylinder.

    7. Object Number: 210357 Size: SH
  7. Install the steering wheel tilt lever. Refer to Tilt Lever Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.
  8. Install the upper steering column cover.
  9. Install the upper steering column cover screws.
  10. Install the upper steering column cover screw caps.
  11. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column Tilt.
  12. Install the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement .
  13. Enable SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System .
