Removal Procedure
- Open the battery isolator.
- Reposition the electrical center located above the battery.
- Remove the negative cable from the battery:
3.1. | Loosen the clamp bolts. |
3.2. | Use a twisting motion in order to release the cable from the battery. |
3.3. | Use a universal puller if the cables do not easily release. |
- Remove the positive cable from the battery:
4.1. | Loosen the clamp bolts. |
4.2. | Use a twisting motion in order to release the cable from the battery. |
4.3. | Use a universal puller if the cables do not easily release. |
- Remove the isolator.
- Remove the battery hold
down retainer bolt (1).
- Remove the retainer (2).
- Remove the battery (3).
Installation Procedure
- Install the battery (3).
- Install the battery hold down retainer (2).
- Install the battery hold down retainer bolt (1).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the battery hold down bolt to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).
- Install the isolator.
- Install the positive cable to the battery.
Tighten
Tighten the cable clamp bolt to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Install the negative cable to the battery.
Tighten
Tighten the cable clamp bolt to 13 N·m (115 lb in).
- Close the isolator.
- Position the electrical center located above the battery.
- Reprogram all applicable accessories as required. Refer to
Reprogramming Accessories After Battery Disconnect
