  1. Disconnect generator connector C2.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

Is the charging indicator lamp illuminated?

Repair or replace the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.

Is the repair or replacement complete?

Disconnect connector C102.

Is the charging indicator lamp illuminated?

  1. Locate the short to ground in circuit PM1 between the generator connector C2 and connector C102 terminal 3.
  2. Repair the short to ground in circuit PM1.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Step 7

  1. Locate a short to ground in circuit PM1 between the gauge cluster connector terminal 18 and connector C102 terminal 3.
  2. Repair the short to ground in circuit PM1 between the gauge cluster connector terminal 18 and connector C102 terminal 3.
  3. Replace the gauge cluster if circuit PM1 is OK. Refer to Voltage/Oil Gauge Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Is the repair or replacement complete?

  1. Connect all connectors and components that were disconnected.
  2. Verify that the charging indicator lamp operates properly.

Does the charging indicator lamp operate properly?
