  1. Disconnect the seat belt switch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire between connector C315 terminal 8 and the ground circuit of the switch (terminal 7).
  3. Turn ON the ignition, leaving the engine OFF.

Is the Fasten Seat Belt lamp illuminated?

Test the seat belt switch ground circuit for an open. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the seat belt switch.

Verify the operation of the Fasten Seat Belt lamp.

Is the Fasten Seat Belt lamp operating properly?

Test the seat belt switch signal circuit for an open (CKTs XF20 and XF21).

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Remove the instrument panel cluster.
  2. Inspect for poor connections at the yellow gauge cluster connector. Refer to Intermittents and Poor Connections Diagnosis in Wiring Systems.

Replace the gauge cluster.
