Removal Procedure

Caution:  When a rear compartment lid hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.

  1. Open the rear compartment lid.
  2. Remove the rear compartment lid finish panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement .
  3. Remove the rear compartment lid manual release handle. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement .
  4. Remove the rear compartment lid release actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Actuator Replacement .
  5. Remove the rear compartment lid latch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement .
  6. Remove the rear compartment lid ajar switch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Ajar Indicator Switch Replacement .
  7. Remove the rear compartment lid applique. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Applique Replacement .
  8. Remove the high mount stoplamp. Refer to High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement in Lighting System.
  9. Unclip the harness to remove electrical connectors from the rear compartment lid.

  11. Mark the location of the rear compartment lid to the hinges.
  12. Remove the nuts from the rear compartment lid hinges.
  13. Remove the rear compartment lid with the aid of a helper.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 163177  Size: SH
  1. Return the rear compartment lid to the previously marked locations with the aid of a helper.
  2. Install the nuts to the rear compartment lid hinges.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the rear compartment lid hinge nuts to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).

  4. Clip the harness to the inside of the rear compartment lid to install the electrical connector to the rear compartment lid.
  5. Install the high mount stoplamp. Refer to High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement in Lighting System.
  6. Install the rear compartment lid ajar switch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Ajar Indicator Switch Replacement .
  7. Install the rear compartment lid latch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement .
  8. Install the rear compartment lid release actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Lock Actuator Replacement .
  9. Install the rear compartment lid manual release handle. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Release Cable Handle Replacement .
  10. Install the rear compartment lid finish panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement .
  11. Inspect the alignment of the rear compartment lid. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Adjustment .
  12. Close the rear compartment lid.
