  1. Set the parking brake lever to the 4th notch.
  2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Remove the exhaust muffler heat shields. Refer to Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement in Exhaust System.
  4. Remove the propeller shaft. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Propeller Shaft.

  5. Object Number: 219652  Size: SH
  6. Loosen the adjuster nut (1) on the parking brake lever shaft (2) until the rear parking brake levers at the rear of the backing plates are in the at-rest position (facing towards the rear of the vehicle).
  7. Important: Clean and lubricate the exposed threads on each side of the nut before attempting to turn the adjusting nut.

  8. Tighten the adjuster nut on the rear parking brake lever shaft until braking effort occurs while still allowing the wheels to turn.
  9. Perform the following inspection:
  10. 7.1. Ensure the rear wheels still turn with the parking brake lever set on the 4th notch.
    7.2. Ensure the rear wheels are tight with the parking brake lever set on the 7th notch.
    7.3. Ensure braking effort is equal at both rear wheels.
  11. Install the propeller shaft. Refer to Two-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in Propeller Shaft.
  12. Install the exhaust muffler heat shields. Refer to Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement in Exhaust System.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
  14. Release the parking brake lever.
